2003 LT80 Quad Starting Issue - No Spark
hi all, love this site, never had to ask a question until now. I have a Suzuki LT80 quadrunner from 2003. There is no spark at the plug. I have been reading forums and checking everything I know how to and have the following facts - The coil tested ok. The CDI is untested. The starter motor turns the motor over. Fuse, Brake etc all ok. I then tested the wire coming from the magneto. There is a black with red wire and a white with red wire. My user manual says I should have 173+- ohm but I get no reading on my multimeter (set at 2000). When I check to see if the wire is ok, the black with red wire has a connection with a screw on the left of the magneto, I can get to this through the hole in the cover (hope that makes sense). When I put the multimeter on the white with red wire and touch the ground (cover of magneto) I get no connection.
I assume then that there is something wrong with my magneto? It looks a little dusty inside but without a puller I cannot remove it (for now). I guess my question is this - Is my magneto broken? What went wrong? There still is the chance that my CDI is the culprit as I haven't ben able to find a way to check that but I guess I need to concentrate my attention on this magneto as this comes first in the process of elimination. Any help would be much appreciated. I wont let this beat me, Im in too deep now.
