Are you new to 2 strokes? If it was just broken in is it not jetted right? With 2 strokes they have the most power jetted a little lean, but you are better off running a bit rich and carry an extra plug or two with you

Stock jetting for a 1989 LT250R is as follows:
- 240 main jet
- 30 pilot jet
- needle in 3rd clip position

You may have to jet up a little bit for the pipe but not sure. It seems most ppl with a stock pipe jet down to a 220 main, so you may be fine.

As usual, a WOT run and a plug chop is the best option to get your jetting right.
