'86 230 Quadsport Idle Issue

It's very easy to adjust the idle on these with the external adjuster.
Give it throttle and screw in the throttle adjustment screw. Let off the throttle and see if it idles. Keep doing that a little more until it idles where you want it to. If it's idling too fast, just back off the screw. You can do this without giving it throttle. Just make sure you are giving it throttle before you screw it in, or you could gouge your slide.
If it will only idle really fast when the idle screw is turned all the way in, and dies if you back it off, then it's only running on your main jet circuit because your pilot jet is clogged. Even if it's freshly rebuilt, it's easy for this to happen if one little granual of debris get in there from the gas. The pilot jet has a tiny tiny hole. Try the adjustment method I said. If it still won't idle at a decent RPM, pull the bowl and check the pilot jet for a tiny piece of dirt or sand with a torch tip cleaner.
Now, once you get it to idle, adjust the fuel/air mix screw so that it idles as fast as possible. After that, readjust the idle screw again using the same method I mentioned above to where you want it to idle.
Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. I pulled the carb off again and cleaned it as beat I could-still no go. I ended up getting a new vm26-606 and threw it on. Started and idled first kick! It stumbles a bit if I jab the throttle too quickly from idle though. If i go easier it revs right up. Is this something the mixture screw can fix or am I looking at something else?
