Carb Question
I'm rebuilding the carb on my LT160. I'm having an issue getting the needle jet to go back in. The old one seem like it pressed in so it stuck up maybe a sixteenth of an inch or so. This one just sits about flush inside the carb. I tried tapping on it and it still won't slide in all the way. So the bleeder is bottoming out on it and I can't screw it in. I attached a diagram so you know what I'm talking about, it's numbers 16 and 20 on the diagram. Any tips or ideas guys? I appreciate any help.

I'm confusing myself as to how it goes in. I can only get it to go in one way but my bleeder tube won't thread in quite far enough to seal the o-ring. I don't want to force it. I had to buy a new one cause I forced the other one and messed it up. One end is slightly larger in diameter than the other and will only fit in one way and it's bottoming out on the collar so I know it's all the way in, it just seems a hair too long to let me screw the bleeder in far enough. Any ideas?

Sorry for the delay, haven't had time to work on it in awhile. I still need help. I spent like an hour messing with this thing yesterday. The little brass collar seems to only go in one way and it appears to be going all the way in. I can get the bleeder to thread in but it bottoms out on that collar about halfway in. It seems one side of the collar is longer than the other but will only go in one way. It looks like the longer side needs to go in first to give me the extra room to screw the other piece all the way in but no matter what I do it won't go in that way. What am I doing wrong? Is there a trick to putting these in?

My answer would be put the old one back. I never fit carb rebuild kits, I must have done well over a hundred rebuilds and very few have shown signs of wear on the "brass bits." I have fitted the odd new float needle as the tiny plunger inside it can get to sticking but that is about it. If the bike was running right, up to the time dirt or water got into the carb, it will run right once the dirt or water has gone. There are lots of posts on here that start with "I have fitted a rebuild kit (or new carb) and my bike still won't run right", in many cases the new parts are not right and blowing out the old carb with compressed air would have been quicker, easier, cheaper and cured the problem.
