8 ply tires on 400 Eiger
#11
The Eiger I think is similar to the older Big Bears in that it is geared pretty low. It has the power to handle bigger tires. I think it comes down to whether you need that extra traction at the cost of performance. Some compromise will be made either way. Plowing and riding in snow and ice requires a lot of traction, less aggressive tires probably won't do. Go too aggressive and heavy and you completely overwhelm the machine. A lighter mud tire like the Zillas will give you the traction you want without the power loss of a heavier radial tire. Will it last as long, probably not. Its not a radial nor is it 8 ply. But it is a 6 ply tire which should be tough and durable. And it costs a little less.
