Default Buying a Z400 or 400ex

Hi

Im 15 yrs old and im looking for a sport quad. I've been looking at the 400ex or the Z400 used. There to expensive new and i need something cheaper to fit my price range. I will be paying for 3/4 of ther qaud and im wondering which of these two quads I should buy. I weigh 190 and im 5'7. As you already know this is a VERY hard desicion. Which one should I buy or is there any other ATV's I should look at?

Thanks

Do you have any Experience on ATV's ? if so, than the Z400 would fit you well. it has alot more power than the EX and for the same exact price. but if your not experienced, than i would start with something more mild. there both good quads, but the Z 400 is just far better for the money. (And it is availible in green via the Kawasaki version the "KFX 400") but i do Guarente that you will have lots of Fun on iether one of them Good Luck.

I do have some experience on atv's but not that much I've riden my cousin's Banshee and Dirt Bike, and my friend has 2 Honda Fourtrax 350 ES's that I ride alot. We usally go out on the sand pits or in the woods I like to go fairly fast but not so much that I feel out of control and do you know if it fits well for larger riders because im on the bigger side lets say.

The Z is a sweet quad, but it will be harder to find a used one, since they are a new quad for 2003. I think the cheapest I've seen a Z400 used is around $4300. For $900 more you can get a brand spanking new one. If you look around you can find a 400EX for between $3000-$3500. If your buying new, or your willing to save a little more, there is no contest....go for the Z400.

Well, you say you weigh 190, Both of the Quads will haul you around with no Problem, but the Z has more Power to do it with. Although the 400 EX is a good quad too, just underpowered compared to the others. you should go out and test ride them both, and see what you like. thats the best way to make a decision.

well first of all wouldnt this seem like a no brainer? the new technology z400 is the same price new, has more power, just as good handling, and like icehouse said its liquid cooled unlike the ancient air-cooled 400ex, dont get me wrong all my friends have 400exs and they are fun to play on but it is underpowered. However if money is a issue you may get the 400ex because you can find hundreds of them used for pretty cheap with mods, where on the Z you will most likely have to buy the pipe/filter,jets and so on. Just my 2 cents worth

i don't seem to be seeing this under power thing i just bought a 400ex for my son he is 10 so there isn't a power problem, but since i had to pay for it i figure lets see what it has, well every time i race a z it is a tie or a win for the honda. i know some of the things on the honda are outdated but hey if it works why fix it? well while riding this last weekend it seemed the kfx didn't handle the jump very well the whole rear break housing broke, and it was from a hard hit of a 5 foot jump. maybe a bad part from the factory. well if power is the issue there are a lot better choices than a 400 i think the predator can take them both with ease
