Default 2006 yamaha wolverine 450

It's an automatic and when I shift it into gear it jumps forward and sometimes when I put it in reverse it won't go in and makes a clanking noise. Anyone know why?

When idling in neutral, is your bike revving at fairly high rpms?

It sounds like if you dialed your idle screw on your carb down a bit you could relieve this issue. That would be the first thing I looked at.
Press that foot brake down nice and firm when you change gears to keep the bike stationary when shifting

Yeah I thought it was something to do with the choke. Definitely revving high

Yep, could be the choke sticking. My wolverine 350 has a screw right on the bottom of my carb (left side), with a spring on it. Trying turning it and dropping the rpm's down to a reasonable level and see if your problem persists.
