Lube the bearings, plates, roll cage and bearings.Plates alone won't help without everything else working properly!! Download the manual link I posted that shows all things to check for along with looking at this video again to get a general idea.Plus the hub nuts can't be torqued more than 12 foot pounds.

Yes the drive shafts will turn whether in awd or two wheel drive. When the front hubs don't lock up(in two wheel drive or in awd and rear wheel aren't spinning) the drive shafts turn at the same speed as the front tires.

Unhappy 2008 sportsman sputtering problems

Been a while since post. Got rid of the other 08 -300 sportsman .Did keep the one I bought new . Am starting to think the 300 is **** . The bike has 1200 miles on it .First started to have problems due to small crap in fuel tank so replaced with new carb . But was riding in Sierras at 3000 ft and wont go above 12-15 MPH or looses power when climbing any hill . Put some high test - 91 oct. in the girl . Have a friend who rides with me on same dusty roads with a Suzuki 250 and never takes care of the bike . Never once has had a problem . Starting to think these are crap bikes . My 500 fuel injection has never had a problem -even after rolling over . After seeing this on 2 bikes so far that I have had -am convinced maybe there is a problem with the Polaris carb bikes . Am in a club there there are many retirees who ride the same canyons with different brands bikes ..The Polaris 300 is a picky bitch .Any help will be good .

These were an entry level imported atvs that kinda filled the notch between kids machines and the full size models. Some had problems, others didn't,just like any other atv model or brand. First off it doesn't need 91 octane. 87-89 is good enough.Problem may or may not be fuel/carb related as to no power, but could simply be clutch related.Could be the centrifugal engine clutch slipping.Dirt Cheap Yamaha & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse OR could even be a belt or primary or secondary clutch problem.
