Cabela's has a Warn winch for $350 plus there's a $50 rebate. They might not be the best price either. It's just the first place I looked. You can get it for half of what you said. The only other brand I've had any experience with is Polaris and I think Warn is better. WarnŽ ProVantage Winches : Cabela's

I run runava winches on all my machines with 0 issues. They are a little slower than a warn but hey im not in a hurry. I will continue to buy their products even on a new machine.

Superwinch are good winches for the money too. Check out Cabela's. They sometimes have them on sale.

I'm getting a KFI 2500 lb winch for my Grizzly. Its in the shop now getting some service done(wheel bearings and new rear cv shaft) so I figured while it was there, go ahead and get a winch for it. $300 for a 2500 lb winch with synthetic cable and mount. KFI winches are the main ones they sell there. I believe they make a quality product. I can't believe I waited this long to get a winch for it, had it since last July. They had a set of nice Rhino SE takeoff wheels(same bolt pattern as Grizzly 660) and Maxxis tires that looked practically brand new that I picked up for $200. My stock oem tires are pretty much worn out and getting a set of almost new tires and wheels for less than a set of new tires was a deal I couldn't pass up. Hopefully it will prove to be a reliable winch for years to come.

I saw a KFI winch somewhere that was all blacked out. Looked cool.

I also have a KFI winch, 2500lb cost 215.00 out the door from a dealer but have seen them a little less. All the reviews I could find gave it good ratings.
Watch the tractor supply and harbor freight models, of course they are Chinese but I have read about issues with them. From my research it appears the good winches (at least 2000 lb) start at 150 and go up, most anything less seems to have issues in all the reviews. Yes Warn makes a good winch but you are also paying a lot for just a name. Oh and the all black KFI are called "stealth winches" and come with synthetic rope.
Mounting and wiring properly can be a pita at least it was on my UTV. Also look to see what items your winch comes with, some do not have a wiring harness, roller fairlead, switch box etc. Some of the "discount" winches require you to purchase the items needed for mounting at an extra cost.
My KFI winch came with everything I needed to mount and wire into position.

$600 ! My cousin just bought a 3000lb warn for his new 500 Rubicon for $450 and that's in rip off Canadian prices. $600 installed is even pricy.

Back to the question, I bought a used 350 Grizzly two and a half years ago that has a 2500lb "Viper" and it has been good so far for a secondary name brand winch. I think those things are $250 tops.

I went the in person route as opposed to buying online this time for my winch. I had a 3000 lb viper winch on my previous Grizzly and I think it cost about $160 back in 2009. It lasted about one year before the gears stripped out. And I didn't even use it that much. I probably could have found something a little less expensive online but I chose to support a local business instead of buying something from amazon. And if its a defective unit, I simply have to drive about 5 miles to get it resolved instead of shipping it back and hoping they replace it.
