Battery Light and quad not charging. No blink codes showing. After a lot of reading (this forum) and copying and pasting to word I have done the following:


Key off current draw Neg. term to Neg. battery wire .01 DC Amps.


Charge Battery to 12.7 Volts start quad check across terminals 12. 2 volts


Run Stator check 44 OHM's all three legs, all three legs to ground OL digital Multi Meter. Start quad check AC volts, Idle 18.5 all three legs, at somewhat high idle ( no speedo/ display) 53 DC Amps all three.


Was about to post here and ask how to check the regulator/ rectifier and decided to clean and check all battery / solenoid connections and also look at the fusible links. Glad I did here is what I found three shorts thru wiring jacket ( blue .08 fusible link ) going to the solenoid.


Lastly I want to thank OPT and others who post help and info here as this old fart would of been very lost without it. I am also guessing regulator/ rectifier needs replacing ?

 

If it's not charging at least 14 volts at and idle,then most of the time the regulator is the the problem. All yellows from stator should show some resistance between each other and no yellow to ground zeroing out.
