33 mudhole central florida

I have no idea how to get to 33 from vero, but I can tell you where to find 33 on a map. Look for the city of Clermont and you will find hwy 50 or colonial drive - they are the same road. Follow 50 west until you see highway 33, go south on 33 until you see where 561 connects to it. The mudhole is about 200yrds south of that still on 33. south of that intersection. The 33 Mud Hole is only open on Sundays.
To get to 5a (Scottsmoor). Get on I-95 go north, until you get to exit 82 which is for 5a-scottsmoor-oak hill. Get off there when you come to a stop sign immediately, make a left(you will be going back under the interstate) the road will dead end, make a right into the big parking lot (there is a old dairy queen that has burnt down many years ago). If you have a gps mark where your truck is, it is easy to get confused if you have never been there before. Most people go here on Sundays.

If any of you can get your hands on the Saturday February 2nd edition of the Orlando Sentinel check it out or at OrlandoSentinel.com. There is an article on the front page about the 33 Mud Hole. There is also another article in Mondays February 4th editon of the Sentinel. They are trying to close this place down. They said there were over 1,000 people in attendance two weeks ago and over 1,600 last weekend. They are saying that the mud bogging is hurting a portion of the Green Swamp and they are fining the owner of the property $500 per week for not closing the mud hole down. I guess they would rather see 1,600 people spread all over the swamp tearing it up rather than just the 23 acres of private property that the owner is allowing us to play on. The owner has very strict rules about littering and being safe on the property. This is a great place and is a lot of fun. I guess the people trying to close this area down would rather see 1,600 people spread out in groups of 15-20 destroying lots of small mud holes and Florida swampland. There is obviously a lot of people that enjoy watching and participating in the sport of mud bogging and they will definately go somewhere to do it. Wouldn't it be smarter to just leave them alone and be happy that they are all staying in one area and behaving and having a good time, instead of tearing up lots of small areas? Sure makes sense to me! If you would like directions to the 33 mud hole check above in this thread and you will find them. If you would like to call the author of the article he is Mark K. Matthews (352)-742-5927 or you can e-mail him at mmatthews@orlandosentinel.com. -See ya at the mudhole!
