I've ridden it once on an atv. The trailhead we parked at was at a campground and then we rode to Perkinstown. I think there is more than 14 miles though. It's hilly, wooded terrain.

off the WI's DNR website...
Description: Perkinstown Trail. 20 miles of trail on gently rolling terrain. Trailhead is located approximately 15 miles west of Medford on State Hwy 64 (north side of road). Chippewa Campground is adjacent to northern end of trail.
Contact: Medford Ranger District, Chequamegon N.F., 850 N. 8th Street, US HWY 13, Medford, WI 54451; (715) 748-4875

I've been on that trail many times. I used to live about 8 miles away from trail head on hwy 64. It is marked a 38 mile trail but you can find approx. 5 more miles if you know where to look. It used to be alot more muddy but they filled in alot of holes in trail. I used to ride there on a "90" LT500R and my wife on a "92" LT250R but now were on 2 new 500 Scramblers and 1 son on a new 400 Scrambler and 1 son on a DS650. Ever try the trails in winter? Taylor county opens all trails to atv's approx. 600 miles. We rode 240 miles in 2 saturdays, Trails were smooth

I don't know why the DNR says that and then still registers them but my sons is registered in wis. and he's seen others registered this winter when he raced in SWIRA circuit this winter. The DNR had other rules besides width, "weight" and many 4x4's are over limit too but they still register them. I don't know the reason, maybe they are relaxing rules, were just out to have fun and enjoy riding

ya i've riden that trail quite a few times on my blaster and 200s, haven't got the 400ex up there yet. the trail is pretty fun though and you can go on all the gravel roads in the national forest too. personaly my favorite part is the gravel pit its got a section of whoops, a few large jumps. we have actually been deer hunting up there for well, about 15 years and go up there at least 5 times a year. during the summers the bugs will carry you off the trail if you stop!!

hey i think i saw ya one time.....on ur blaster...u passed me up(assuming this is u)i was on my green sp500 with a friend on the back.....we were keepin up pretty good....mostly because u didnt like the mud and water and i went right through it...but you really roosted me in the straight aways...maybe it was u.....i think u had a small kid on there...sitting in front of ya...well maybe i am wrong but it was a warrior....well post a message back here if it was u or not...anyone else ever ridden this trail??
ya the sand pit is great...i would have to say i got some air on the sp500!! that trail is great but isnt long enough...o

ya know those big water puddles after the sandpit going north...well i went really fast through them once and got my belt wet...i never had it happen so i walked to the road and hitchhiked back to the veicle...then we drove our truck back on the logging road and then on the trail(oops dont tell anyone!!) and towed it back to the trailer...wow i was a dumbass......i should have just let it run for a while to dry it up...but i didnt know...

i might have seen you,one time me and my buddy were on the trail(blaster and 200s 3wheeler) and we passed a group of about 6 polaris machines coming the opposite way that was about may of 1998. then that fall i was up there by my self on the blaster and passed 3 people,a honda foreman 400 and 2 polaris quads a sp500 and a boss, usually i cruise the entire length of the trail then back track until i hit the gravel road the go into p-town and get gas then haul *** the whole length of the road wide open down to miller damn, ever been down there, once i passed this guy pulling his boat on the gravel road. bbut usually quads can go faster on the gravel roads than car or trucks.

no that wasnt me then....because the blaster that passed me was single....and i was single...where is miller damn....do u park in the parking lot on 64?
thats where i park....i ride the trail straight and then ride on winter sports road for a bit and then it connects to a trail to a gas station...there is like one turn in the trail before that it goes left and then splits and left or right again...then if you go left u get to the sandpit....i dont know where everything is....i dont have a map.
i am going to call the taylor county coc to get one...thanks
