thanks. Do you guys know how they work? i know how to install them and what they do but i can't figure out how that little thing can advance the timing.

 

With an engine running at a high rpm the time that the gas has to explode is very short, by firing the spark a little early the engine will produce a little more power. It is all connected to how fast the gas burns in the combustion chamber and getting an early start.

 

I know that but how does it advance the flywheel?

 

The key is off-set. It looks like a key that is starting to shear.
