350 big bear tranny problems
#11
Hello, my brother has just purchased a used big bear 350, having some shifting issues.
reverse is hard to get into, and in order to use reverse he has to hold the shifter in position.
also, the difference between low and high gears is minimal, we think it may still be in low when shifting into high gear.
is the bike just geared that low?
any input is appreciated

big bear 350
hi atv forum users I'd like your help if you can I have 1987 Big Bear 350 4x4 with a manual 5 speed transmission with a Hi and low range, I've been plowing snow with it for the past 6 yrs. On the first snow fall of this year I noticed it started jumping out of gear, and tonight it jumped out of gear and I can't get it to go into any forward gears hi or low but reverse works fine. Has anyone had a similar problem or any ideas Thanks for the help.

Big bear 350 popping out of gear.
It had reverse only. It started out the same as you described, it would come out of gear go into neutral between gears and it just go worse and worse. Forward was like it was in neutral. When you take it apart the piece I'm talking about meshes with the shaft that comes from the shifter shaft. You will only need one gasket for the side and you can do it in the quad. Let me know what you find
