What do you base that on?

 

Then I think your decision rests in the balance of how the new Raptor handles at speed. If it's as top-heavy as the 660s then I would stay away from it for the trails.

 

Well suspension wise they both have independent double wishbone with 9.1 inches of travel up in front, in the back they both have aluminum swingarms with 10.1 inches of travel. But still the Raptor stands taller and it's heavier plus the engines are totally different. The YFZ takes turns very fast, and I doubt the heavier, taller, and slow revving Raptor will do that. Again IMO.

I think it's just the handle bars that stand taller, the seat is only 1/2 " taller on the rappy, yes heavier, yes different engines, I agree, the YFZ will probably be faster on the track. Good points made on your part and of course the faster revving YFZ engine. It'll be very interesting running them side by side [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

 

I don't think it'll be as top heavy, with the lower seat height and wider stance, seems to reason it has to be more stable, it's really close to the stance of the YFZ, time will tell. I wouldn't sell any of my quads to make the new purchase, they were my first quads and I'll keep them, but I'm looking real hard at the 700R.

 

That's for sure! I like that Yamaha is improving their machines, and this Raptor 700R is very interesting indeed.

 

I would wait selling your YFZ for a year, you would loose a pile of $$$ on resale. Just buy a set of elka's and a seat off of an 06 YFZ and you'll have a quad that will rip through the trails. Unless you one of the guys that has to have the lastest and greatest, or reverse is really important to you

 

Well you could always keep the yfz and get the raptor.
