Banshee stroker crank
I am considering buying a +4mm stroker crank for my banshee and i was wondering how reliable it is? Also if i put the crank in it will become a 403cc, so will it increase power throghout the whole powerband or just the top-end? Can i still use the banshee as a play bike even though it will have a stroker crank?(i know it is one of the smallest stroker cranks they sell for a banshee)thanks.

How fast are you lookin to go?
I had one at over 100mph in the 1/8 mile with stock crank, connecting rods +.20 over pistons, 2 in 1 pipe, polished exaust ports, ported reed cages, head milled for more comp, k&n filter, 94 octane(sunoco)gas with 104 octane boost (5 gallons gas and the whole bottle of octan boost). Maybe a few other small mods.
My buddy had a big bore kit with my old FMF pipes and I blew his doors off every time we raced. Even on the track he couldn't keep up. His hole shot was a little better but I would fly right by once I got the traction..
His engine was toast in about 5 months, I was still running circles around him with my bike even after he rebuilt his!
So, keep in mind "Bigger isn't always better" I proved that against quite a few banshees, DS650's, Raptors and so on.
I haven't seen a stock Banshee due over 80mph in the 1/8 so I can say its safe to assume I put together a nice bike with out goin into the bottom end.
Not to mention that 2 in 1 pipe sounded awsome! I got many compliments on that bike! All the mobds I did at home. The cylinders where done at a loal shop but everything else was fairly simple.

From what I understand a +4 would be more reliable/stronger than the stock crank. You can keep your stock crank and have it trued and welded for more reliability, but that will not increase your displacement or power. Your best bet is to decide exactly how much power you want to make and what type of riding you're going to do, then go to bansheehq.com and do some searches on +4mm or Cub, Cheetah, porting, stroker, etc.

From what I've read the dune guys run from a +4 to +10mm. It all depends on how fast you want to go and how much you want to spend. The duners will get a dune port and/or a +4mm 421cc motor (Cub, Cheetah), 35-39mm carbs and top end pipes. I don't think just a crank will yield much HP on it's own. Like Sparky said, build it right.

We've run a 4mil hotrod brand crank with a 4 mil cheetah cub cylinder and it has been bullet proof for two years of hard racing. We're tearing it down this winter to put new rings and pistons in it just to be safe. Unless you're drag racing I'd just go with a stock head and polish it. The cool heads are nice but you don't have to spend the money. Put that towards some nice pipes. You'll also need a lockup clutch setup if you do a 4 mil. The stock clutch WILL NOT hold. The lockup will run you close to $400 for the whole package. Speedy is right too. You'll need a longer swingarm too.
Good luck.
