660 Grizzly ran great now sputters and backfires!
My cousin has a 04 660 grizz that is fairly modded up. He has had a pipe on for a while and just recently put in another jet kit. he just had the carb apart and cleaned up and put back in a ran great for one ride. we went out yesterday and it ran great again. We started going in very deep mud and water but nothing got into the airbox.
Then the thing started acting as if he had sunk it! it started missing and backfiring but would idle fine. As soon as you give it gas it would just start popping and want to die out. again No water in airbox! jumped on and tried to limp it home. Then the thing will want to run great again for about 5 mins then back to sputter and backfire!
took it home and we put in a new plug and ran die-electric grease around every connection. fired up fine and worked great down the road for about 4 blocks then started again!!!
we did also drain a bit of gas out of the float bowl to see if there was any smung that go in there but no help. so today we are going to pull the carb off and have a look.
Anyone else have some thoughts and advice or has seen or heard about this before, please reply. its the long weekend and we want to ride!

where would this plug be? on the shifter on the side of the fuel tank? or follow the linkage back to the tranny? cause i did look at the shifter and there is no electrical wires coming off there that i can see.
this quad has very high home made snorkel kit for the belt intake and exhaust!
but we will check though,
thanks

ii think it's by the brake lever on the floarboard .. there's 2 vents under the plastic that go into the CVT assembly and if water gets into those hoses it can fill up that cover.
they may of just put the vent for the front vent and not the rear.
