Raptor problems
Hey all I just bought a 2001 Raptor 660r and it doesnt seem to run top end like it should...its bored .40 over , has stage 2 hot cams , 02 tranny ,new clutch, homeade pipe , jets , high compression piston , stiffer valve springs, holes in the air box. So i figured ied get at least 80 out of it and it will only do low 70's....i dont get it....think i should get a stock pipe and jets and start over ? its hard to get started to....thanks

Top speed will really depend on your gearing and rear tire size, not necessarily the engine mods. So, what gearing and tire size do you have? As far as starting, a little trick I learned on mine is when the engine is cold, choke it and don't touch the throttle. I know it's hard not to do, but don't even look at it. For some reason it floods them out. My friend's was the same way, so give that a try. If that doesn't help you may be running lean, or your choke isn't working. Does the homemade pipe look like someone knew what they were doing when they made it? Either way I would buy a new pipe with at least a slip-on silencer and throw that homemade one in the yard and let snakes hide in it or something.
