Reverse shift almost impossible

Reverse shift almost impossible
I just purchased a 08 Big Bear with foot shift. It seems fine ... I can shift into reverse just fine... just push down with the button turned, but to get it out of reverse it is impossible with the foot.... I have to reach down an reef on the lever up to get it out of reverse.
I know it is new and may need some wearing in (it has 2 miles on it) but the upshifting from reverse is awful. Is this normal for awhile or should I take it back in for warranty service?
Also is it necessary to turn the **** to take it out of reverse? Seems to go out either way, but I have to reef on it either way.

Thanks for the info but this is way to hard. I am a big guy and cannot shift it with my foot. Have to yank on it with my arm/hand.
I called the shop and they said to make sure the brake is squeezed hard. Apparently there is a sensor in the brake that you have to compress to make the shift easy (trying to protect us from harming ourselves HOHO). Well I made sure to squeeze it all the way to the hand grip and still no change. There must be an adjustment to the break lever so the sensor figures out what is going on. GEepers!

It isnt a sensor that decides when the brake is down far enough to shift into reverse. That is governed by a linkage connected to the foot brake lever. It will basically shift or not shift, not much in between there. Don't worry about it until you get it broke in completely.
