Yamaha YFZ 450 ATV problem

My friend has a Yamaha YFZ 450 ATV. It is leaking antifreeze from the right side, of what looks to be the black hose, below the cover where the water impeller is. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Bad water pump seal, just like a car it will leak out a weep hole when the seal goes bad.

It may be as simple as replacing the o ring on the water pump cover. I ended up changing mine out because it was leaking.

nah, cynick was right on, it's the oil pump seal, same thing went bad on mine...hey find out if he has a 2006...would be interesting to know if there is a presisting problem with them, since mine went too =)

This was one of the few problem areas on the YFZ when it was first introduced, and I would bet on the water pump seal as well. Good catch imsam, you probably would have gotten grief over that one!
