Default 1998 parts/1987 frame

I had a 1998 Warrior stolen. I recovered everything but the frame, steering stem, and plastic. I found a 1987 frame/steering stem. Will my 98 a arms fit the 87? Anything else that I may have a problem with? Thanks!!

Default 1998 parts/1987 frame

I had to put a 89 frame under my girls 2002 after the frame had been mangled in a wreck. I had an issue with a-arms after the 89 balljoint came apart. A dealer in KY told me that 87 a-arms and 88 a-arms were different and 89 and up were all the same. A hint is screwed in ball joints,(87-88), insted of pressed in,(89-up). I luckily found a complete set of a-arms and spindles on ebay for a 90 warrior. I bought them because it was a good price and everything bolted right up. Oh, the parts guy told me that there was a hundred dollar price difference in the 87/88 and 89-up a-arms! I would definetly do the research before you go spending that kind of money for the wrong part. I got a suggestion from another guy, or girl, on here to buy an aftermarket set. Bad thing about this is they don't come as stock specs, only +2 and up. I couldn't afford that set at the time, and I like the way the stock ones help the bike fit thru close trees. Good Luck.

Thanks- I'd sell the frame and get a newer one before I'd invest in an '87. I do know the older a arms had replaceable ball joints- but that does no good if they don't fit! Maybe the '87 frame and a arms will be on Ebay! LOL My '98 parts were in pristine condition- broke my heart to see it parted out. Thanks again,
SS

Yeah, we had bowwored my bosses warrior for a weekend and my future brother in law totaled it, forcing us to buy it. This thing had super low hours, kids had lost intrest, pristine also. Now it looks like an older bike with that frame under it. Luckily I was able to use the 02 swingam and axle assembly to make the rear end look good. She wanted me to get it painted or powdercoated, but then again we didnt have the funds, so I just tell her to go out and get it covered in mud when she complains about the look!

You would be better off with a '89-up frame. Besides the a-arms as higgy mentioned the front headlights and front nose piece is different. The headlights on '87-88 are mounted down low between the front fenders where on the '89-up they are mounted up high.

Higgy- what a way to get a Warrior! LOL
Rappy450- yea, I had noticed the lights, but didn't think it was a prob until I noticed the entire front frame was short. I was looking last night and my exhaust may be a prob, too. Thanks for the reply.

I just sold a 98' frame on ebay in perfect condition. It was bought as is, but ups has a new deal on large items over 101"s around I think, and shipping killed me.

Yea, I saw a couple of frames within 2-3 hours of me. Pretty lucky! Hopefully I can locate one and part out the '87.
