All the Special Edition is, is a bike that has a limited run of that colour. They usually splash it up a bit to entice buyers.
I had a 2002 Special Edition Kodiak that was black and silver instead of the most popular green colour that year. It has a lot of curb appeal if your into that kinda thing.
My brother-in-law got the Special Edition Grizzly 700 in 2007 and every where we go the silver colour really attracts the attention.
I think 2007s' Special Edition Grizzly/Kodiak 450 was a redish carbon fiber looking kinda colour. It came out after I bought my camo one.

For 2008 they just came out with the Black one... I think the only difference is the Color, The Aluminum Wheels and the ITP Mudlite tires... Personally I do not see the need to Bling up your ATV... it is an ATV afterall and if you truly use your ATV it will get scratched, dirt, beat, etc... so why the need for Fancy Rims and Colors?
The best option on that 2008 Grizzly 450 SE is the Mudlite Tires... AL rims would not survive the type of riding I do would....

Sometimes... depending on the dealer... the winch is not included on any model. Special Edition or not.
Plastics... that's the only difference. Also a limited number of production of those colours in plastics.
Accessories attached to the bike are at the discretion of the dealership. If they wanna spice it up a bit with a winch or wheels or something I'm sure you'll pay for it somewhere. Directly or indirectly.

'07 SE was silver with bear scratches and "carbon fiber" look side panels and dimpled seat.
'07 LE was "carbon fiber" look red with windshield included.
It's only curb appeal, but my SE silver bear scratch appearance finish seams to really hide "real" scratches and does adorn compliments especially when it's clean and in the sun.
More importantly was the free Warn winch installed offer.
