MUD TIRES

MUD TIRES
In your Opinion what are the best Mud tires. Keeping in Mind the weight. I've rocked some 26 mud lites on my wolvy 450. I slashed one. So seeing as how I need one new tire I would like to put 27's on all around. But trying to keep weight down with a good ply tire is kind of difficult. Also does anyone know if there is truth to mud lite being a 6 ply tire but the sidewalls are only 4ply.

First the wolverine already has aluminum wheels stock. Now I have to ask why would you buy a wolverine and put anything taller than a 25" tire on it? If you wanted a mud machine the grizzly already has a locker, low range and IRS which would be much better suited for mud riding...that said the Maxxis Mud Bug is one of the lightest pure mud tires and it works pretty good. Now I've heard nothing but good things from the Maxxis Zilla and it's actually lighter than the mudlight.

I wouldent go bigger than 26" or even 25" for my taste,The 25's make my Wolvy very top heavy so much so I went out and got wheel spacers to make it more stable in corners..But I have the 25" mudlites for messy riding..But when I know the trails are dry and very tall hill climbs I have a set of OEM wheels I through on before the ride..I'm a little out of date on the newest mud tires, but when I was shopping them the 6 ply Mudlites could not be beat in prive and durability..I have a 350,but I lose a lot of bottom end with the 25" Mudlites..to the point where the fronts wont even spin in the deep, thick mud..I'm hoping a new clutch kit will help me there

I understand alot of you think a 27 is ridiculous on a 450 wolvy but with the 27's you have almost the same clearance as a quad with IRS. Here in Alberta the mud is deep and there's alot of big toys on the trails which leave deep ruts. If your still not convinced come on up this spring and we'll bury your quad, It'll be a blast. Just keep in mind though are beer has more kick.
