yamaha grizzly 600 dies when you shake it
ok its a 2001 grizzly and when i start it it fires right up idles good runs around the yard good. soon as i shake it a bit while its sitting at itle or if i go down a hill it dies instantly. i rebuilt the carb with a rebuild kit and its still doing it. any ideas would be great thanks also i can leave the gas turned on all night and it doesnt loose any out of the overflow. only comes out of overflow when i go downhill.

It probably comes out the over flow when you shake it too?
Next time its idleing....turn the gas valve to off, and let it idle for about 20 seconds...and then shake it. Still die? The float level might be set, so the gas is too high in the float bowl.

i tried turning the gas valve off and waited it worked i could shake it enough to rock the tires off the ground and it stayed running. what is the best way to adjust the float i have adjusted it all over the place and always have the same resolt. does new floats come pre adjusted?

could it be anything else on the bike that would cause this problem? i have adjusted the float several times and it dont change at all. is it that critical that the float is exact level? i am going to get a service manual soon i was just wandering. im getting frustrated with it. thanks

Its not that critical..but it appears to be proved that it was the problem, by running the float bowl low( motor running, gas valve to off), shaking the quad, and it still ran.
Check over the whole float setup. The pin which the float hinges on, could have worn the float, pivot hole way out of round. The needle and seat maybe dirty.

figured out the shaking problem the spring in the choke was wrong and when i shook it it would choke it out problem solved. now i am trying to start over on the jetting and adjustment that were messed up trying to fix the shaking problem. the quad runs great at every speed but slow. idles good mid to high is good but if i put around it cuts out and dies. could that be the pilot needs to go bigger. i am lean now cause the plug is white after a quick run. i went higher on the main jet and it cuts out at faster speed. the e clip on the needle is in the richest position and im running a 155 main and stock pilot. 144 is stock main but it runs horribly lean with that jet in it. thanks
