kodiak 450 vs grizzly 700
hey guys. I have a 05 kodiak 450 and it runs great. Recently, I really started getting into riding so i want to upgrade to a Grizzly 700. I was wandering if anyone knows how much more power the grizzly has...is it worth going thru the process of selling my current bike, searching for a new one and making the payments again for the increase in "rideability" the grizzly has over the kodiak. i mean my 450 is a beast, it gets me thru alot, but i want some more power honestly. how much more torque, power, speed or whatever does the grizzly have over the kodiak? or if anyone owns a grizzly, give me some reviews. good things, bad things, etc. convince me to upgrade lol. Thanks alot

The kodiak has 26HP from the crank!!Grizzly 700 45.6 at the crank my unk has a Grizz 700 I really like it ive put 10-15 hour's ride time on it 'it's fast out of the hole and seem's to never run out of power it has stock tire's so im not sure how it will pan out with some really meaty tire's.!!! Ok and I have a Grizzly 400 got it a few month's back and it's the exact same atv as your kodiak 450 size wise except mine has the IRS rear end and your's has a low gear and as for handling the 700 feel's way more tippy on side of a hill than mine even going up hill if you try to lug your way up a hill it just doesnt feel planted like my 400 the 700 is just too tall to me but as i said as for power there's no use even trying to compare it has a VAST amount of power over the 450 and speed BUT!!! I have to yet need more power than my 400 has I can tell if I wanted to put some really meatty tire's on it that it wouldnt do well at all but in stock trim it's perfect for me so If I was you id just save my money our maybe upgrade to a Grizzly 450 for the plus side of the IRS rear end NICE RIDE....

I've had a kodiak and traded it in on the 700 grizzly and I want need another quad for 10 years or so. The 700 is a blast to ride and the power steering is a feature that once you try it you want ride anything else again! The 700 will wheelie easy with the stock tires but after putting 27" XTR's it tamed it down a little bit. It so comfortable to ride, the seaat is the thickest, the Fuel injection, the power is great. Mine will hit 70 mph in no time then the rev limiter kicks in. Get one and dont look back!

In the last eight years we have owned a Kodiak 400, two Kodiak 450s, three Grizzly 660s, and two Grizzly 700s. The Kodiak 450s (one with IRS, and one without) are great little ATVs, and for super technical mountain goat terrain they do very well. They are easy to manage, and have adequate power for low speed use. The 421cc engine is kind of a dog though, if you ask me. I think it makes less power than any of the other 450 to 500 cc machines, and it vibrates like an unbalanced washing machine on spin cycle. I think the Kodiak 450 or Grizzly 450 is a good ATV, but I don't think that 421cc engine is all that great of an engine.
The Grizzly 700 (or even the 660 for that matter) feels like it has at least double the horsepower that the Kodiak 450 or Grizzly 450 has. I personally think handling with the 700 is much better than the 660 was, and is even a bit better than the 450 is. No comparison in power though, the Grizzly 700 will blow the doors off the Grizzly 450, which is no surprise.
