Default YAMAHA BLASTER 2003 SPUTERING

I am stumped it starts up first kick but runing rough when you give it gas it hardly moves. I replaced the plug and air filter. I need help any ideas would be nice Thanks.

Whated the plug look like. was it fouled?

The plug was a little black, and it was not flooded

I don't know much about 2 strokes but it sounds like a carb problem. Plugged jets maybe.

after some thought is your choke working right, on a 4 stroke if the choke stays on after the engine is warm it will run rough and get rougher until it dies.

carb for sure. check out rydin/dirty.com tells you how to rebuild card. even just cleaning it correctly will help.watch your float height.

Did this happen out of no where? make sure your e-brake is'nt engaged this will cause it. i messed with my buddies for hours before i realized

This comes to mind first on '03 models too. The Rev limiter is related to the park brake. It may have a bad switch as well. Make sure the park brake mech is not engaged and stuck, and then trace the wires (if the condition still exists) and try both unplugging(to open the possibly closed switch that's not supposed to be closed....not sure of the orientation of it normally) and easy enough to short accross the terminals to simulate closing it where it's staying open (if that's where it needs to be, this would prove whether the rev limiter switch is working or not.)

Shorting can be done with a paper clip, or any other metallic piece or a stripped back piece of wire..........This is where your McGyver part of you kicks in.

Other than that, there is a topic discussing similar issues on another thread that has a set of bad reeds (we think). There's been many suggestions on it that may be related to your issue. see :
