Default Grizly 450 2008 questions

Hello I am new to these forums and i just bought a yamaha grizzly 450 08

First i want to add stuff to this (exhaust, ect) but I know almost nothing about 4 wheelers and where to buy parts and what is good for this type of four wheeler.

What is a brand of exhaust that is really high quality for this particular model?

you should have looked into the accesories first, if you want to add an exhaust and that kind of thing, you should have bought a sports quad, thats what aftermarket exhausts are made for. ive heard of a few people putting them onto grizzly 450s. take a look at highlifter.com also, maybe you should skip the exhaust for awhile until you get a feel for the machine and ask yourself if it really needs more power, and learn how to ride them and do the maintenice first. just my 2 cents

i thought about getting the raptor 450 but its only 2 wheel drive and i do alot of mudding / water up till about 2 inches under the exhaust. and 2 wheel drive alot of times wouldnt cut it.

i drive ducati motorcycles alot and i know that in a general rule of ducati if you want to add hp and torque put a termignoni exhaust on it.

i didnt know if there was some things like that for utility quads. but yeah i know it doesnt need more power, i am just a power hungry person (haha) i love going really fast (ducati ftw)

ok ill check that site out, thanks for the reply!

well, then you should have bought a bigger grizzly, like the 700 and if that still wasnt enough power, they have tons and tons of accessories for the 700, sometimes i wish i bought a 700 just so i could get the accessories. as for the mudding and such, just use low gear and it has no problem turning the wheels, at all! however, you do have some problems when the water gets into your belt drive

The first thing I'd do is have the clutch modded by Hauck Racing (google that). Then I'd grab an FMF slipon, a UNI Filter and a Dial-A-Jet from Rockymountainatv.com. You should see 60mph with those few changes. I have yet to do the Hauck clutchwork but I wish I had done that first. I'll have it done in the next few months for sure.

There's plenty of exhaust systems for the kodiak/grizzly 450... As for the clutch kit... I wouldn't recommend it until you get bigger tires, as that's what they're designed for. I don't think they make mudbuster cams for the 450s... but you could look...

First off Welcome to the Forums! The 07-08 Grizz 450 is a continuation of the 03-06 Kodiak 450's just rebadged in 07 and new Maxxis tires, in 08 they added wet rear brake and 2" reciever hitch.

You don't buy a Grizzly 450 ($6299) for speed.. you want speed on a Utility.. buy the Big Bores.... by the time you are done spending the money on a dial-a-jet and mufflers and all.. you would have almost paid for a stock Grizzly 660 ($7199). The Grizzly 450 is a perfect mid-sized utility quad that in my opinion does everything right. People are so infatuated with making Utility quads Faster... or making it Pop a wheelie... I personally enjoy cruising along @ 30-40 just fine.. and when I get in the rough stuff.. I am generally waiting for my friends who ride the big bores as their machines are heavier and wider. The quad has good power and is great when in 4x4 lock. I enjoy the heck out of it and the only thing I would change if I could would be another inch of ground clearance..

You just pointed out why he SHOULD buy the 450 and hop it up...it's lighter and more manuverable than the big bores so having more power will only make it that much better.

Now on that note I have to say for the price of a 450 griz you could buy a 650 prairie and blow it away...
