How do you change gear on a raptor 700.
well must bikes are a 5 speed 1 down and 4 up and netural is between 1st and 2nd. all u have to do is pull the clutch in and shift to what gear u want then let the clutch out slowley untell u feel the bike start to move then hit the gas a little then let the clutch out all the way and go. once u get going it will be easyer to do and u have to do the same with down shifting to. thats the basics of it hope this helps.

yeah exactly just make sure u let off the gas completely when shifting from 1st to 2nd or u will shift into neutral........also when u want to shift into reverse make sure your in first gear pull the clutch in and there will be a reverse **** u have to turn and hold it to the right then shift down till the R on ur light gage LIGHTS UP then make sure u let the clutch out slowly while pressing the throttle, just like u would to take off.

well in second you might be able to get away with starting again once you get used to using the clutch, but until then shifting back to first won't hurt...
on the chain note, as long as you lube the chain and keep it at the right tension, you shouldn't have a problem with it...it all depends on the riding conditions, the more sand that grinds in it the faster it will go, i good rule of thumb, when you change your sprockets, change your chain....
clutches go b/c people ride them (aka flooring the throttle while holding it half engaged) or are just being stupid with it...even with you learning how to ride for the first time you shouldn't have a problem with it for a while, probably anywhere around 100~200 hours you'll probably have to change it, it really depends on you and how you ride.

also, side note, you'll feel a loss of power when you get on the throttle...then in the higher gears you'll prolly feel the engine go wide open when you gun it, but the bike takes a couple seconds to speed up...simple signs that the clutch is going...don't worry about it though, you shouldn't have a problem
