what mods to do
I'd start out with basic mods such as a good filter like a k&n and maybe a slip on pipe and jet kit. good bang for the buck. in my experience, boring it out helps some but not enough to justify the cost unless it needs to be rebuilt anyway. a stroker would help more as would a good cam tp match it. I like to keep mine simple instead of going overboard and having a machine that's tempermental and not fun to ride.

Yeah start with a full pipe like the Curtis Sparks, get a filter like a K&N or the Pro Design is supposed to be better if you will be riding in sand, and jet it correctly. Then you could just do the cam mod, or get a high performance cam like a Webcam and put in a high compression piston, like from JE. Usually the more mods you do the more reliability you lose.
