Default Wolverine 450 engine mods?

Hi everyone !
I own a Wolvie 450 '07 and it seems perfect for an 'enduro style' quad. The only thing that i'm not happy with is the engine power.
DynoJet didn't help much and i'm thinking about engine modification. So... are there big bore kits available in the market for this quad ? Engine swap experience maybe ?
Actually I would go for a 700cc sport quad but what i DO need is 4WD transmission as i ride in the snow too...

thanx in advance :-)

The big bore kits will not give you anymore topend. Machining your clutch sheave is the only way to get more topend out of the Wolverine. The transmission is what really holds this quad back IMO.

Yhea there are 2 big bore kits that are out there that I know of.
The first is the 488 FST big bore kit(also available as a 500 stroker kit)
The second is a 449 Je Pistons kit(was not availabe at the time I installed the 488 kit in mine, due to noone ordering atleast 5 kits)

But what ss454 said, it will Not give you anymore top end, you will have to have the clutch machined to give more top end speed.

But the power from the 488 kit and camshaft is so much better that its not even funny.

Was wondering how the bigbore kit helped on the low and mid range. I have an 07 wolf and i installed elka shocks all around and it rides and jumps incredable. I was wondering about what it cost you to do the engine mods, and if it was woth it. I'm thinking of an HMF pipe wondering if you know anyone with it, and if it worked well.

It is awesome on the low mid and top end opower. If I do the clutch machinework to it I think I will get up closer to 60mph.

Yhea the Hmf pipe there is a few people on here that have them and like them.
The engine mods when I did the BBK it ended up around 12-1400 after machine shop labor and that is with me doing all the disassembly and reassembly of the body and motor and rejetting the carb.

check out www.hauckperformance.com, they did mine, and quite a few others clutches on here. Give them a call, they will give you all the info.

Just for comparison...my wolverine was the quickest out of our riding group over the past weekend, which included my rzr 800, my buddies grizz 700, my dads foreman 500, a grizz 600, another wolverine 450, and a few other smaller quads. The only thing that would get me was the grizz 700, he would crawl past me on the top end...I would stop around 56 and he would hit 58, but I had a good lead on him until I topped out.

I was quoted about 110.00 labor plus shipping cost on the machining of the clutch, by hauck performance.

What they do is machine your factory clutch to allow the rollers to travel up further and down further, to increase power and top end speed.

thanks for the help that should get me started on what i want to do. Have you heard anything about a 4 valve head that is being made as a direct bolt on? I recommend installing a set of elka shocks. They are a lot of $ but well worth it. This machine corners great and rides really smooth and it honestly jumps just as good as my old yfz. It can handle 50 ft jumps and lands like a feather with no bouncing.
