Since you don't premix your gas and oil,I doubt it's too much oil.Does it have any mods?
Done any jetting changes?Might need to check the condition of your air filter to see if it's dirt.
If it's still running good, you're probably ok.To be a little on the rich side should be ok.
Might just keep an extra spark plug when you go riding just in case.

No mods, I'm thinking your air filter suggestion may be part of the cause. When I bought it it only had a metal screen and a sponge prefilter on it. The oil was dirty and it had been sitting for a few months. I just put a k&n filter on it and changed the oil & filter twice within a month. The oil is staying clean now but the plug hasn't changed.
It was smoking pretty bad when I first go it .(appeared to be burning oil) after running clean gas and changing the oil and plug I can barely see a faint bit of smoke. If the rings were getting bad would it still run like a raped ape? Performance seems to be peak.
Its funny you mentioned an extra plug, I just put one under the seat the other day. thanks
