Default wolvy 450 oil leak

I've got a 2006 wolverine 450 and its leaking rear differential fluid out the breather tube and all over the engine. Does any one know why it started to leak fluid out the breather tube? How do you stop if from leaking more?

I've heard of others having this problem and I think your rear diff may be over filled and when it gets hot oil will come out the breather tube. I've not had the problem but someone will chime in on this. I did see a great write up on a fix for this with a Suzuki part but cant remember what it was. My memory was the first thing to go and I can't remember the second.

I had the same problem. I read another link that says it only happens in cold weather. BUT, it's annoying regardless. Here's what I did. I took the hose out of it's holder and blew into it to push any remaining oil back into the diff. You will only blow a little till you pressurize the diff and have to stop. Then put it back into the holder pointing the opposite direction. Chances are it won't leak anymore, but if it does, it won't drip on the exhaust and stink like crazy. P.S. mine quit leaking after I did that.

All you did was blew it out and installed it back into the holder the oppisite way. I'll try that and hopefully it quits leaking. Thanks

i tried putting the breather hose in the clip the opposite way but it still leaks. Does it leak just being its cold out or has a seal gone bad inside the differential?

I'm noticing the same problem with my 07 wolvie. Sure does stink! I've tried cleaning the tube ... I took it off the diff and blew through it. I reinstalled it to its original position, and it was okay for a while.... but now it's leaking again. I'll try moving the end of it (Thanks Lava... like you say, it won't leak onto the pipe at least.)

Anyone else know why these machines do this?

I bought this quad used and I don't have a manual for it.... I've checked the diff level and it looks a'right to me, but what is the actual level supposed to be? Also, I might just break down and give it a diff service.... what is the recomended oil. (I ride during the cold northern winters)
