Default 2000 Bear Tracker warms up and quits running

I think you're right---it dosen't get hot ,just slt. warm when it cuts off. With the choke fully engaged, it will idle a little while. If I cut the choke off, it stops. After a few trials, it won't start with the choke in any position. Can't figure why it starts and runs like new untit suddenly it cuts out then won't start or run without choking- then, runs a little bit , dies and won't start !-

I hope that you got your problem fixed. My money was on the coil-i have the same thing happen with lawn mowers and atvs pretty often and normally its a coil/coil wire issue.

Hey man long shot here but I just bought a 2000 bear tracker and this thing seems top notch. Clean fires right up everything you could want and I’ve run into this same problem. Fires up gets warm and starts to be intermittent until it dies and won’t crank back. Did you ever figure out anything with this issue? Any help is a big help thanks for any info you can send my way.

14 year old post, he should have it fixed by now. I have had that problem on a few bikes. Can be vapour lock but, if you unscrew the filler cap, and the fault goes off, you have fixed it. Usually it is the spark plug (easy fix) or one of the stator coils, either the exciter coil for the spark or the trigger coil for the spark timing. With being in the engine they get hot faster than the CDI and ignition coil, so are more affected by heat. Try to check for a spark when the fault is on, though the spark sometimes just gets weak with intermittent ignition faults. If you can get hold of the workshop manual, it gives ohm readings for all the ignition coils, though they can ohm out right when cold, but wrong when the fault is on.
