Default Yamaha yfs200 blaster performance?

Ive got a 2001 blaster with a toomey b1 pipe and exaust, jetted minuki carb, "lightened frame, bored motor using a splitfire plug. Ricky stator hotshot cdi, aftermarket coil, performance stator..

Im about to cut the plastic flat to the frame where the airbox drops down & put a filter on the carb direct

my question is what will make it faster?.. Ive been pondering on a turbo-charger configuration but i cant find a dished piston to lower the compression..

Any ideas on peak performance?

Specs-- 62mph in 1/8th mile on the drag strip.. But i wound out 6th trying to get there

also my power comes from 3rd and up.. Sounds too loud in 1st and 2nd (lot of rev but not moving fast lol)-- sprocket?
It has a factory sprocket set on it as of now

trying to improve my top & bottom end performance

Regarding gearing:
Smaller front sprocket = more acceleration, less top speed.

Larger front sprocket = less acceleration, more top speed.

Opposite for rear:
Larger rear sprocket = more acceleration, less top speed.

Smaller rear sprocket = less acceleration, more top speed.

Tire size:
Larger = less acceleration, more top speed

Smaller = more acceleration, less top speed

Check out www.sprocketspecialist.com they have an immense amount of sprockets for numerous quads and dirt bikes.

As much as i love the blaster, honestly you are better off not trying to dump big money into mods. Great for what they are and can be made pretty quick, but for the kinds of mods you're talking about you are better off selling it for something more powerful. If you are dead set on building up the 200, your best bet for power is going with a 240 kit or if you really want to go all out, a motor swap. Yes move up to a 400 or 450. You could buy a nice one for how much a turbo. etc. would be. And if you just drag race find a 86-89 honda 250r. Sounds like you have most the good stuff done on your quad already. I would go with 1 or 2 tooth bigger front sprocket and try that.

Well i like to drag & mud/trail ride.. the bigger motor bikes seem to be alot heavier.. my buddy has a 400 ex & when we were riding this weekend we were doing stunt jumps & i was 3ft higher and about 4ft longer as far as the jump..

and if i was to step up it would put me into either a 4stroke or a higher class

quick & light, that is how it is now.. just thought it would be cool to ride up next to a raptor 660 and go wwwwwhhhhppppppphhhhhssssshhhh (blow off) lol

Well they are heavier no doubt, but if you are out jumping your buddies on 400ex's and the like, its rider skill not because your blaster is so light. You go up a jump with more power, u will go higher/farther.

You say if u were to jump up would put u in a 4stroke or higher class, i'm not really sure what you mean? Most of the modern, more powerful atv's are 4 strokes. And i'm not really sure what u have against getting a bigger machine?

Yeah building up a blaster to run with a raptor would be cool, and if u want that like i said go 240, lots of info at the link i posted on that stuff. I'm just saying as someone who has owned a blaster and has moved up, as much as i loved the thing, moving to something else is much more practical and just the suspension, brakes, power, etc of a bigger sport quad vs a blaster...there just is no comparison. Now owning a 660 raptor, i can tell you it will take A LOT to make it even close with even a stock raptor. But if you are hell bent on building up the blaster, more power to you! Nothing wrong with that.

I had a blaster also with light mods. Take these guys advice. Save your cash for something bigger. I was soooo happy when I moved up to a 400. A quick exhaust/jet/filter and it would outperform about anything you will do to that blaster with room to move up less cash. You will be happy you did so.

You sound like your already in the chase of power. You'll never be satisfied with a blaster if that is the case.
