Default buying used Yamaha Warrior 350

Hey
I'm going to look at a used 2003 Yamaha Warrior 350. I just wondered what I should look for when looking at a used four wheeler, how do you know if the clutch is good. I know it is manual but to shift is it 6 up or 6 down. Are they liquid cooled? And is $2600 good deal for this bike, its got FMF exhaust, new bumper, clean, needs new rear tires soon. Is it easy to learn how to drive manual?.

Quick responses very much appreciated. Going to see bike tomorrow. Thanks

A bad clutch generally slips under acceleration, and may squeal a bit as well. Having never ridden a manual, it will be hard for you to know if the clutch is bad unless it is completely fried. BTW, replacing clutch plates/spring pack is pretty easy and inexpensive, I wouldn't worry about it to much.

The tranny is going to be 1 down, 5 up. Neutral is in between 1st and 2nd. From neutral, you push the shifter down to get first. Second is one shift up, repeat for 3,4,5,6. Most people can learn the clutch well enough to operate on flat ground in 30 minutes or less. One or two days of trail riding and you will be good to go.

Warriors are air cooled. Just my opinion, but even if it was mint I would have a hard time paying more than 2K. Even then, you can find a similar aged Honda 400ex for about that, and it is an all around better machine in every way(earlier 400's did not have reverse though)
