2001 Big bear No Spark after stator change!
Hello, I am new to this site, but I have read many theads here about 2001 Big Bear No Spark! As many have this same problem and having spent many dollars and hours of reserch, I found out a very simple fix at least to my problem. If you have changed your stator unit and you get good readings and still no spark check the 2 wires that go to your CDI which are not the pick up coil wires. They are located in the same 4 wire plug as the pick up coil. These two wires are for the direction of the motor, The signal from these wires tell the box to fire and the motor is going in the right rotation (it is so the motor does not run backwards). The polarity is wrong on some of these aftermarket stators ( I tried 2), reversing the location in the plug sends the right signal to the CDI and lets the signal go to the coil. The colors in my aftermarket stator were red and blue, I put the red where the blue was and the blue where the red was and wala spark! Look for this if you change your stator and still no spark (I do not know which models have this type of saftey in the CDI box). The 2001 does not have a source coil, it is a rotation coil 1 post on the stator with very low voltage. I hope this saves some people from buying the $300.00 + CDI box.

Just wanted to say thanks for this info, I replaced the stator on a running 2000 big bear and then had no spark. Spent a whole day looking for other problems thinking I had lost my mind. I switched the blue and red wires and now have spark! Thanks again for taking the time to post this info.

thank you for the info i changed the stator in a 2001 beartracker and it still don't run i checked everything and can't find the problem although the new stator does not test good out of the box it was .03 ohms so im thinking i got a bad one but i'll try changing the wires thanks again i'll post back if it helps
