Default Raptor Reverse Rev Limiter coming on while going forward

We have a 2004 600 Raptor and for some reason at a certain RPM the rev limiter and reverse light come on. Has anyone ever heard of this?

We tore the machine apart and checked all the connections for bad grounds and/or cut wires and didn't find anything.

It seems to be related to moisture... when you wash the machine or go through water, it will run good for a little bit till it dries out.

The dealer said it could be a bad ground or the box going bad but wanted to give a shout out to see if anyone else had this problem since we can't find a bad ground (and we tore thing thing nearly 90% apart looking).

If the reverse light is coming on I would be giving the reverse light switch a good looking at. If it is not sealed good water can get in there and jump the two contacts and trip the light and the RLer.

ok will do... but it is odd in that the only time the light and RL doesn't come on is when something is wet. The water is making it work...

Actually it makes perfect sense. Water with minerals in it is a very good conductor of electricity. Those contacts are very close together in a little switch and a little water can bridge the gap and turn the light on.

Sorry, let me rephrase... When the system is wet the RL or light doesn't come on. When it is dry, the RL and light come on at about 40% - half throttle.

The moisture seems to be preventing the failure, not promoting it.

Wow, then I have no idea. Strange?
