Default 2001 yamaha warrior help!!!

hey guys i bought a 2001 yamaha warrior off craigslist for $700 knowing it wont start. i just put in a brand new battery thinking that was the problem when nothing happens. when i turn the key no lights come on or anything and when i press the start button nothing happens no clicks or anything. we got it running about a week ago by pushing it and popping the clutch but i need the electric start to work. im need ideas soon please help i dont wanna waste my money on parts it doesnt need i looked at the wiring and it is rough but all there and in tact please help!

There is a fuse under the left rear fender. I would check that 1st.

i forgot to mention that but i did check that and its in great shape, when i bought it from the guy he said it needed a new battery and starter but a starter wouldnt be the reason for the lights not turning on

Did you verify the key switch and the wiring from it are good, since nothing comes on when you turn the key on, I would start there and work my way to the battery. there is a fuse, as mentioned before, plus a starter relay that runs power to the starter circuit, that should "click" when you turn the key on or push the start button. Maybe time to buy a good manual with an electrical diagram, or see if you can google one off the internet, would save you a lot of wire tracing.

I had a similar problem before and it turned out to be the stator, they do go bad on these warriors.

ok thanks alot guys this really helped but now i have 2 more problems that i cant seem to figure out...
1. i cleaned the carb twice very well but it wont idle without the choke halfway in, i cleaned the jets well and i tried adjusting the idle screw but that didnt serm to do much
2. i went to bleed the rear brakes the other day and the reservoir is filled and its flowing to the foot brake pump but not to the disc brake. i pump and pump and pump then crack loose the bleeder screw and there is bo pressure please help thank you so much
