Default raptor help

I have a 2005 raptor 350 and have a problem!!
The problem is I can be riding along and all will be fine then a weird noise come's from around the front sproket and its not that loud!! But here is the problem once that noise start's if I do not come to a complete stop and shift down back to a lower gear and take off it will just lock up!!! Ive been going down the road in 6th gear in 35 40 mph and it lock up. Im scared too really push it anymore as far as speed goes!!! But once it locks up I can shift down and take rite back off like nothing happend!!
And the other weird thing is it really only does it on smooth ground. I can push it as hard as I can on rough ground and it will never do it. Not once!!!
Any thought's or help would be awesome!!
Thanks in advance.

Eeeeek. : (

Sounds like maybe a bent shift lever or arm? Not allowing it to get fully into gear? Maybe someone with more experience in the transmission will come along and comment.

What locks up, the motor, the transmission, or the wheels? Have you checked the play in your rear whell bearings, make sure your rear brake rotor is not bent, check your chain tension, and check the front and rear sprockets for missing/broken teeth.
