Default YFM80 Parts Interchangeability

I just picked up a 1988 Badger 80 for my daughter's first quad. I'm going to do a new top end and brake cables. I'm seeing that the engine parts are pretty much the same as the early 2000's Raptor 80, but the front brake cables are a bit of a conundrum. A portion of the part numbers match, and the newer parts are much cheaper than the old ones. Does anyone know if they interchange? Also, the cylinder looks slightly pitted near the top. I'm planning on doing a 48mm piston, which I'm seeing is a 4th oversize. Other than not having any more rebuilds left in the cylinder after boring it, are there any disadvantages to going that large? Will I have to re-jet? Will there be much of a power increase? I'm torn between just getting it running and totally going through it to make it last another 25 years. Of course, my youngest is 5 now and she will outgrow it by age 10, so I guess it really only has to make it 5 years. Sorry for the rambling, I guess it helps me to decide on a game plan. Thanks in advance for any input.
