Default 95 yamaha kodiak to much power

i just bought a 95 yamah kodiak and got it started when i put it in to gear it speeds right up. the rpms are to high when its in neutrel. i set the throttle screw to the lowest setting and that didnt help im wondering if it gets to much gas. another problem that im led into is the exhaust smokes to much i dont know if thathats from the atv sitting for a year.

thanks

I'd start with a good carb cleaning.

I second that try a carb cleaning. Youtube has many good videos on how to do it if you never did it before. Its a easy job.

The problem i have is the gate inside is all the way down. Number 31 in the diagram is all the way shut and it still has to much power

If it's sucking air from somewhere it will also make it idle too high. Make sure you don't have any air leaks, especially on the boot between the carb and engine.
