Default Warrior 350 carb issues

hey guys im new here. Iv been riding for years though. Well a good friend just went and picked up an 01 warrior 350. Guy said it needed a carb rebuild and supplied the kit with it. It ran but wouldn't let you give it much throttle or it would stall out. So I tore it down and found out a few things. The idiot stripped out the flat head screw for the needle so im unsure how to remove it. He also locked in the pin to take the float off some how so I cant get the float off either. Then I noticed that there is a tear in the intake boot that goes from the carb to the head which leads me to think that this is the real problem not the carb. Im having him order a new boot and another carb rebuild kit but he doesn't want to spend money on something he doesn't need and he can get a new carb from a raptor 350 for something like $75 and im wondering if it would just be better to spend the money on a new raptor carb then try and get the warrior carb to work. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Ripped intake boot will cause you alot of issues, depending how bad the rip is could be anything from a stumble at idle to just flat out wont run. the float should just be held in with a cross pin that you can drive out from the side where it pivots. do you have a pic of what screw he stripped? removing the needle mechanism is somewhat tricky.

The tear is about an inch long. Im assuming its causing all the problems. Ill get some pictures up when i take it back off. When he brought it over it ran i could ride it but if i gave it a little throttle it would try to stall or just stall. I took the carb off and cleaned it up then i noticed the torn boot. The stripped screw is the one that is on the long needle that goes all the way through the carb into where the butteryfly flap is.

i don't remember 100% how it all comes apart, but i don't think you have to remove any screws to take that piece out

A Warrior carb and a Raptor 350 carb are not the same. The intake size is different so it is not a direct bolt-on.

well good to know its not a bolt on. Well hes ordering the boot as week speak. It ran today with the choke on reved real high tho and died if given gas. But apparently he lost the little brass end that goes on the end of the throttle cable the holds it in place. Any idea what this is called so he can order one.

thanks for that. Wish the guy didnt strip out the brass screw on the inside of the carb. Im thinking of trying an easy out when i take the carb back off for the new boot.
