Default scratched the surface where my crank seal goes

so i was pulling the crank seal on my blaster and i wasn't being careful enough and scratched the surface. i was using the claw type puller and as i pried up it put one straight line in it. its very small but still enough to mess up the next seal I'm sure. can i use some sort of rubber gasket or something to make sure it seals properly?

How deep is the scratch? If there is any metal that is sticking up past the crank seal surface area then you will need to file/sand the crank down so that it's smooth and won't cut the new seal.

It's on the casing surface not the actual crank in sorry I forgot to mention that. I had someone tell me today at my local cycle shack that I'm fine just some rubber gasket will do the trick.
