Default broke winch cable

hey guys I just wanted to get some opinions on a broke synthetic winch cable. I broke about 10ft off and was wondering if I should splice it or just tie the hook back on where it broke. just seeing what other people thought thanks

I think it was a 50ft cable but now the line is stuck on the winch. I guess from the strain when it broke. it wont go in or out with the button so I guess im going to have to take the winch off the bike.

I guess it depends on where you live. If you're in somewhere like the New England area where there are lots of trees to tie off to than you're probably okay with 40 ft. If it's further than that you're in trouble. There is a way to splice it but I didn't have any success when I tried to do it. It's like those old Chinese finger traps. If you push on the synthetic rope it's hollow in the middle. On paper you can burn the end and feed it back into itself but it's not easy.
