Default 2001 Wolverine Mikuni carb vent hose question

Removed the Mikuni BST carb from my 2001 Wolverine 350 4x4 and noticed a vent hose approx. 4-5" long attached to a nipple just above the gas inlet nipple/hose and it was attached to nothing. Is it supposed to attach to something? What if it does. Again, it is located above and to the right of the gas nipple and near the REAR barrel of the carb.

if your going through mud/water you should have a line routed from there up to the bottom of your handle bars if there isnt a line there already
