turning Yamaha warrior into Race Quad

turning Yamaha warrior into Race Quad
I have acquired a 1999 yamaha warrior 350. I have seen people with newer looking 99s and wanna know what they did. I see that they got new control arms and swing arm. I'm wondering how I would buy those meaning ( +2 +4) and such. They also removed the bug eyed headlights somehow and covered the hole and added aftermarket ones. I pretty much know the rest.
Main things are the control arms and shocks. Idk what I need to do to make them work or if I have to do anything at all accept plug and play. Any advice would help a lot. I am new to atvs in general. I can ride a dirtbike and fix them blindfolded. So help is appreciated.

I'm not sure what your intentions are, but I wouldn't recommend to start with a Warrior to make a race quad out of. They are slow by today's standards.
With that said, for the front, a quick search resulted no aftermarket a-arms for the Warrior. Years ago I had some cheap American Star? +2" a-arms on my Warrior/Raptor hybrid, but I couldn't find them anymore. If you can find some +2" a-arms they will require new shocks (Works or equiv $300+).
For the rear, Lonestar (lsracing.com) used to make swingarms for around $750 but I think they discontinued them. I found this one on Ebay for $250 (2 4 Yamaha Warrior or Raptor 350 Extended Swingarm Extension Swing Arm | eBay). We used to cut them and extend them ourselves, but don't forget it's going to add leverage to your rear shock and you may need to upgrade the shock also. Add a rear +4" axle from Durablue ($400) and with other mods, you quickly have $2000+ in your Warrior. Take that money instead and buy a Raptor 700 and keep the Warrior for a fun trail machine.

I highly recommend doing it, putting a good suspension under the warrior completely changes the quad and really makes it nice and fun to ride. It's really become my favorite trail quad. American star racing and full flight make +2 arms and lsr and American star racing make nice honda style carrier swingarms. I'm rocking the asr arms with the lsr swingarm and I love the chain adjustment system. I'm running ohlins shocks in the front off a banshee and a works rear with a custom link I put together. The great thing about the warrior is all of this can be done cheap and on a budget. Everything on my quad was bought cheap used or highly discounted. Ps I really hate 450s because their time bombs and I hate the chassis setup on the raptor

So if I get +2 arms do I get +2 for the rear axle?? How do I buy the shocks? I don't don't what fits if I buy after market arms or what bikes fit other models and years. I hate 4 strokes lol but this quad was free. I have planned on buying a KX450 mx to race but still leary cause of the time bomb issue. I've never been a quad person. I've actually hated quads at the track cause they **** of the ruts and berms lol. But what sport doesn't have conflict between bikes or skateboards.... This quad is for my fiancé but I still want it to look badass and be badass incase I wanna tear it up on it. Lol

I was able to find american star a-arms: Warrior 350 A-Arms, Swingarms, Steering Stems, Tie Rods, Brake Lines & More. Lonestar still lists swingarms and shocks on their website for the Warrior: lsracing.com
+2" a-arms are +2" on each side for a total of +4" width, so you need a +4" axle to match. When I ordered my Works shocks, they asked me what my weight was and if I had extended a-arms.

These are the full flight arms. I get my shocks used then set up for me. Banshees use the same shocks. Get the tusk axle from rmatv. Keep the stock swingarm length too, if anything the swingarm needs to be an inch shorter

I would also add a steering stabilizer, aftermarket handlebar, grips, weight reduction and some aggressive tires. For motor work I would talk to Curtis Sparks, his shop used to be able to get some impressive power out of those old school thumpers.
Around my area you used to see several Warriors at the local events and County Fairs but after 1999 when the Honda 400 was released you started seeing fewer of them in their class. Most of the local events and County Fairs in my area have the 4-strokes divided up into different classes to make it more competitive and run the 0-400cc 4-strokes in their own class.
Here's some pictures from one of my local County Fairs of some Warriors back in 1998

If you really want to waste some money you could also get some stuff from this place: Welcome to 4 Stroke Tech, Inc.
Back in the day my local shop builder installed Kodiak 400 top ends on the Warrior bottom ends and then bored them out to 500cc. They were fast but they had so much compression that oil leaked out of every gasket and o-ring on the motor lol!
