2005 Yamaha Kodiak 450 Cloudy Gas Gauge?
I couldn't find anything on this by searching...
My float-style gas gauge on the tank has been getting cloudier and cloudier such that I can't read the red needle. Is there a way to clean it or does it have to be replaced?
I've tried rubbing the clear lens with some scratch remover, and it helps some, but the plastic is pitted with age and isn't really clear.
If the gauge needs replacing, how is this done? It appears the aluminum top holding the gauge has tabs that fold in to the neck or something to hold it in place and it isn't meant to be easily removed.
Thanks for any help..,

Cheap enough to replace the whole assy if you wish. May last a few years then do the same as your old one as they all cloud up. Polaris models did the same thing. Tiny hole in the top for the float shaft allows gas vapors to travel up and discolors the plastic over time.Items #2,3. Dirt Cheap Yamaha & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse
