Question 2015 Grizzly 350 No Low Gear?

Thinking about purchasing a 2015 Grizzly 350 4x4 or 4x2.

BUT

Before I do I was just wondering if we have any user experience here with the CVT. I noticed that this model does not have a low gear and plan to do most of my riding at low speed uphill and through some mud. (nothing super deep)

Just wondering if the stock cvt gearing is adequate for what I need?

As long as you stay with stock size tires and don't go nuts on super lug mud slingers, you should be fine. If you go up a size, you will have more features, and power. The 350 is fine for a trail rider, but a bigger engine will get you over more of the tough stuff and deeper mud. You can always do a clutch kit to give you more low end grunt for the technical stuff, there are some great sheave and spring / weight kits out there that will lower your bottom end gear ratio and still give a good top end.

For a few hundred more than the 350 4x4 you can get a Grizzly 450 4x4. In my opinion its worth it. The 450 has more power and has low range and diff-lock.

The 350 Bruin/Grizzly never had a low range which is something that also concerned me, but I have worked the ATV in thick mud and pulled a boat trailer and was surprised the belt never slipped once. The ATV still has a 1100lb tow rating.

Well I found out that Yamaha took "a no low range" into account on the 350 and clutch it with different springs and weights to make up for it.

The thing can pull harder then my 500 Sportsman in High Range. But you pay for it, the 350 Grizzly sure likes to scream once you hit 45 mph.
Unlike a 350 (Same motor) Wolverine 4x4 that can cruise at 50 mph all day long but has a much lesser tow capacity.

My first SRA 350 Grizzly handled aggressive 26" Maxxis Zillas easily with its stock clutching.

Don,t let the no low range concern you too much.

Every sub 400cc CVT driven ATV I've ever ridden has seriously lacked low end power. Can't imagine the griz 350 to be any different.

Yamaha Outdoors ? Side x Side, UTV, Utility ATV, Viking, Wolverine Grizzly 350 4x4, retail $5599, Grizzly 450 4x4, retail $6399. I'd pay the extra $800 for the 450. They start to get a bit more expensive the bigger you get, the 550 retails for $7999 for a non-eps version.

The 350 is ok but I sure keep my 500 for our fishing trips.

can only agree with the others, take an extra look at 450 so you get low gear
