Hello I am new to this site and I had a few questions I just bought a Yamaha moto 4 250 and it has issues it smokes pretty bad and it Boggs down when Im driving it I'm not sure what it could be oh and the battery is not charging I was told it sat for a few years it runs ok just those issues fans anyone give me a few pointers on getting it to stop bogging down

 

Clean the carb out. Remove the float bowl and blow it and the jets out with compressed air. If the bike isn't charging you could have a dud stator. Get the bike running and remove the live lead from the battery. If it stops, you need a new stator. I don't think it will run right on battery power alone. If it continues to run without battery, you need a new rectifier, I doubt if that would affect the running, but it is possible.

 

I would check the compression on your engine before anything, smoke is not a good thing.
