Default Front differential 94 Kodiak

I mot sure if my 94 Kodiak 400 has a diff locker or a tcd-diff.
When one wheel is in the air whike driving, it's spinning. I guess that is a proof that it hasn't diff lock(?)
Was it a option with diff lock/tcd on the 94 Kodiak??

I've no idea what a TCD diff is. Like most 90s 4WD quads and some modern ones, the Kodiak has a limited slip front diff. If it had diff lock, it would have a lever or button to engage it. OK a few cars have an automatic diff lock, but I don't think any Quads have them.

I think limited slip and tcd is the same thing.
TCD is letters for Torque Control Differential.
I hope it is possible to find a limits slip/TCD-diff on eBay or some other similar place and put it in my Kodiak.
Thank you!

The Kodiak's and Big Bears did not get front wheel drive lockers until about 2006 and up. In 94 they still did not have selectable 2wd to 4wd option. No full time 4wd ever had diff lock.

My 350 Kodiak is a 2007 and has diff lock but only on the IRS version because I had a SRA 350 2007 Kodiak that did not have diff lock.
In Canada they call them Kodiaks not Grizzlies like in the states for some reason.

In diff lock both front wheels turn at all times.

Here is a good vid of diff lock in action ,his first two attempt is in normal 4wd (3x4) then he hits the diff lock button with his right hand and he's out of there.

Ok! I see! great to know!!
A friend have a 350 Big Bear with TCD-diff and that`s working very good.
I guess that is the only option I have to get both front wheels going at the same time.
Probably it is possible to build in a diff-lock too, but I think that is pretty much work and very expenive job. What do you think about that?
I pretty new with atv (Kodiak is my first) so I have learned a lot from this thread!!

I had the TDC on my 1989 350 Big Bear. I liked that ATV and its still going strong for the guy that bought it 7 years ago.

I don't think you can add diff lock but I think you can add a kit to full time 4x4 that allow 2wd/4wd selectable.

WOW! That was interesting!! Is that the link was to??
In 2WD it is the back wheels who is going? Right?
i think ny Kodiak had been much more "useful" with selesctable 2x4/4x4 and limited slip front diff!
Great tip!
Thank you!!

I did check my facts before posting about your Kodiak having a limited slip diff. They do vary in how much torque it takes before they start to slip.

The wheel going round when off the ground is no indication if it is working as, with any set up, diff lock, limited slip, or car style diff, when moving, the lifted wheel would continue to spin. The best test is to lift both front wheels off the ground, with the machine stopped and rear brake on, and turn one wheel by hand. With limited slip, you should feel a resistance to turning but if you push hard enough it should start to turn, while the other front wheel revolves the opposite way.

Okay! Have to take a check on that when comming home from work frisday.
I thought that if it is limited slip/diff. lock/car style, the other wheel is revolving the same way as the wheel you turn.
Thanks for the tip!!
